1.2 Safe to install
The application engages users in the practice of active listening. By wearing headphones, users immerse themselves in the Sound Temple's acoustic environment, where the surrounding sounds create a cohesive auditory landscape. Users have the opportunity to interact with these sounds in real-time—whether it's by generating noises, tapping on various surfaces, or singing—allowing them to either fade into the background or explore the dynamic changes of the sounds around them.
Sound Temple represents a collaborative endeavor between artists Katerina Shikhova and Dmitry Larionov, alongside programmer Kirill Gorshkov. This independent sound art project is developed in partnership with Alma Mater Foundation (amfoundation.ru).
The project offers a significant portion of its experience free of charge, driven by a desire to observe and appreciate users' reactions and interpretations of Sound Temple. To further support the initiative, users can purchase the "share" function, which allows them to record their acoustic explorations, share them on social media, and export recordings for use in personal projects under a Creative Commons license.
For optimal sound quality and an immersive experience, the following guidelines are recommended:
- Utilize wired headphones, as Bluetooth options may introduce delays and diminish sound quality.
- Exercise caution when connecting the app to open sound sources, such as Bluetooth speakers or car sound systems; this can result in feedback that produces unpleasant loud noises.
- The "mic input" button located in the top right corner enables users to switch from their headset microphone to that of their iPhone or iPad.
